It’s Spooky SZN, bookish brujas, which means it’s my favorite time of year. It’s MY time of year! I was born on Halloween. Yes, my actual birthday is October 31. Every time I tell people, “My birthday is on Halloween,” they respond with, “Like on the actual day?” I’m not aware of any other meanings to my birthday is on Halloween, but yea, it’s the actual day. 🎃
As a brujita, I get so much joy seeing everyone embrace the paranormal while the veil between worlds is thin. Ghosts, monsters, and witches, oh my! Nothing makes me feel cozier than a good Gothic horror movie or book. Re-watching the entire series of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina brings me much joy and comfort. I just want to *live* in those vibes, ya feel me?
Spooky SZN is a Total Vibe
Spooky SZN is full of cozy feels. Between the weather cooling down, the sun setting sooner, and harvest time, the whole Western Hemisphere feels like cuddle season. There’s no better time to cozy up with a cute book, IMO. It helps pass the time while the weather gets chillier and the days get shorter.
The truth is, I have a book type. It’s paranormal stories. I love spooky stories about ghosts, witches, ghouls, and other monsters. I love the lore behind an unknown mystical power and the idea of having super powers. At my core, I am a witch and these paranormal stories are just normal to me.
More recently, I got into Romance books for the first time in my life and I have been obsessed. I’m reading romance books like my life depends on it. Over the last 12 months, I’ve read over 20 romance books! They’re so easy and fun to read—well, the ones I’ve picked up usually are. And more recently, I’ve been into Witchy Romance books, which are far cooler than non-witchy books. Yes, I am biased.
